From the wetlands surrounding it to the high-performance systems within it, Hubble Middle School sets a standard for energy-efficiency and environmental respect. It is one of the first three schools in Illinois to achieve LEED for Schools Gold certification.
project highlights A glass bridge that connects the classroom building and the main building offers views to an outdoor “nature observatory” and a green roof. “Extended classrooms” on each floor of the classroom building offer break-out space for cooperative learning and student socialization. Spaces that open to the community include large and small gyms, a fitness center, and a 500-seat auditorium.
