[East Moline, IL] – Today, a groundbreaking ceremony was held to begin construction of the Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels in East Moline, Illinois. Legat Architects designed and Russell Construction will build the combined 233-room facility.

The 150,000-square-foot structure will be constructed beside the Mississippi River as part of the first phase of The Bend on the Mighty Mississippi mixed-use development. Construction is slated for completion in 2018.

An illuminated blade element and a ninth-floor, glass-enclosed lounge are designed to entice both travelers and locals.

“The design creates a cohesive structure under the Hyatt Place and Hyatt House brands, while offering two different hotel experiences under one roof,” said April Maifield, Director of Hospitality at Legat Architects.
