Bartlett Metra Train Station
Prairie style train station responds to narrow site, complements expanding town center
This new station on Metra’s Milwaukee District West line frames a public square and takes on a role traditionally reserved for a village hall or courthouse.
The 3,100-square-foot station has a waiting area, ticket agent office, restrooms, and a coffee nook. It also includes a 2,000-square-foot canopy, a 450-square-foot shelter, a nine-car platform, and two parking lots with a total of 120 spots.
- Design relies on horizontal nature of the Prairie style to better fit narrow site
- Masonry façade respects town center across the street without copying it
- Underfloor air flow distribution system maximizes heating/cooling efficiencies
- Pre-patinated copper roof and brick pavers add rustic charm
