Clarendon Hills Train Station
Cost-conscious station improves safety, offers more openness and amenities
A landscape-inspired replacement train station will spark a revitalization of downtown Clarendon Hills. The new station, part of a larger master plan, includes canopies, glass-enclosed warming shelters, and covered bicycle shelters at both the inbound and outbound Metra platforms.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Station designed with the idea of “building as landscape”—uses natural materials, as if extruded from the site
- Structural systems designed with intent to prefabricate and replicate elements
- Rain gardens and green roofs with prairie plantings improve stormwater management
