Transit-oriented development reinvigorates city, emphasizes riverfront location
Legat and the developer created design guidelines that promoted profitable development and responded to Elgin’s City Center Riverfront Master Plan.
The 245,000-square-foot solution respects local landmarks, matches the height and density of the surrounding context, and creates an exciting interaction with the river edge in support of the Riverwalk Development.
Participatory processes involved several meetings with the Village Economic Officer, Planner, Mayor, Attorney, and a representative of the City Council to present the concept and response to concerns as they were raised.
