This Metra station, completed in 1995, remains a landmark in the thriving Glenview community along Chicago’s North Shore. The station’s aesthetics, inspired by the Richardsonian Romanesque style of the late nineteenth century, set the tone for further development.

The Golden Age of Rail

Brick and rusticated stone trim create a sense of permanence and warmth, while a clock tower creates a civic marker.

Rustic Interiors

The 3,500-square-foot station includes a waiting room, ticket office, baggage storage, vending area, toilet rooms, and warming shelters.

Design Details

Red masonry energizes the facility, while stone strengthens the building’s base and forms an arch that defines the main entry. Recessed windows draw attention to the masonry.
