Community cornerstone improves efficiency, enhances employee morale

Huntley’s population tripled over five years. Departments were scattered throughout the village, and the village hall did not have space to accommodate the growth.

The Huntley Municipal Complex prepares the village for 25 years of growth. The 52,000-square-foot facility houses the village hall, police station, and public works departments under one roof to maximize efficiency.

Wings Spread Efficiency, Comfort

Two wings stretch from a central element:

The police department wing features a spacious lobby, two “soft” interview rooms, and five officer workstations. Additional areas include an evidence storage room, interrogation room, and booking/computer area. Added security includes cells for men, women, and juvenile offenders.
Village hall wing spaces include finance, water billing, human resources, development services, and public works offices. A custom-designed wood reception counter sits at the center of the administrative wing lobby.
A central public area houses the building’s “jewel”: a large board room.

Board Room

Sage green paint, oak paneling, and carpets with earthy colors create a much warmer feel than the white and gray of the old board room.

The rustic fixtures and earthy colors within the lobby flow into staff offices and conference rooms.

At Home with the Prairie Style

The facility’s prairie style of design, evident from the overall organization to the etchings in the stonework above the entrance and the interior woodwork, captures the character of the community and respects its 160-year history.
