Legat Chicago Studio
New studio resurfaces architectural charm of 110-year-old building in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood
Legat’s renovation of a sixth-floor suite formerly occupied by a digital development company uncovers and celebrates some of the original architectural nuances within a vintage timber loft structure built in 1909.
The light-filled space features exposed structural brick, advanced mechanical systems, sit/stand desks for every employee, places for privacy, and a light well. Elsewhere in the building, employees can use bike storage, a shower area, and even an egg-shaped “meditation pod” just off the lobby.
The location brings employees improved access to public transit and dining options — the studio is located across the street from the Ogilvie Transportation Center and Chicago French Market (a European-inspired indoor food market).
HIGHLIGHTS
- Uncovered and sandblasted original brick.
- Absence of private offices enables our principals and project managers to work side-by-side with emerging professionals.
- Daylight reaches employees from both the light well and the exterior wall.
