Legat Architects

Welcome

A rug of shag carpeting and a large globe light in the otherwise contemporary lobby remind employees of the firm’s original studio. Glass that surrounds a gray wall offers a peek into the main conference room.

Interaction on Display

The concrete walkway that surrounds the space displays activity throughout the studio, including the glass-enclosed main conference room.

“The new Gurnee office is a showpiece of green building to the firm’s clientele.”

Grille

Employees and clients gather in “the grille” at the heart of the studio to discuss design concepts, pin up ideas, and give presentations.

“The Gurnee office has an open floor plan, with all the designers in a bullpen. They have views of the elongated office space, of each other and outside.”

Shop

“The shop” offers not only a storage space, but also a recess where designers can create boards, build models, and compare building materials.

Bullpen

The main work area offers open views, natural light from ribbon windows and skylights, and break-out areas.

Billboard

The 137-foot-long orange wall that unites the studio displays the three words that have propelled the Legat legacy: performance – sustainability – design.
