A design study offers options for transforming the vacant Cook County Hospital, once the world’s largest medical facility, into a global medical destination.

Legat’s Alan F. Bombick and other members of Chicago’s Ely Chapter of Lambda Alpha International (land economic society) developed ideas for possible uses and design concepts.

A Global Medical Destination

Lambda Alpha Ely Chapter “Team Bennett” brought together professionals in design, real estate development, finance, legal issues, transportation, and urban planning. The team focused on unlocking the property’s cash value to create the most economically advantageous solutions for the county and county taxpayers.

The concept proposes transforming the site into a “Global Medical Destination.” Key to the concept is a high-rise mixed-use tower to create a centerpiece for the Medical District and near West Side.
