Senior Associate | Creative and Sustainability Coordinator
Michael Maloney, LEED AP BD+C designs and manages PreK-12 and park district projects with a focus on creating sustainable environments that promote health and wellness throughout the community.
He does not practice sustainability because it’s trendy, but rather because it allows him to give back to communities and improve the environment through the buildings he designs.
“Sustainability goes beyond recycling paper or installing a green roof,” says Michael. “It’s a mindset that needs to be ingrained in life and in work. We have to look at sustainability as an investment in the next generation.”
Since joining Legat in 2006, Michael has contributed to planning, design, and management for over $200 million in renovation and new construction. He has also helped several clients achieve LEED certification with the U.S. Green Building Council.
Michael frequently participates in school career fairs, conducts job shadow programs, and leads construction tours and presentations for students of all ages.
He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
