Miguel Carrera
Associate
When Miguel Carrera joined Legat after graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago, he had a head start — throughout his high school years and beyond, Miguel had worked at his family’s construction business. He uses his knowledge of construction processes and relationships to balance design and real-world constraints such as budget and municipal codes.
Miguel explores materials, site context, and building methods to create design options that help clients achieve their goals faster and more economically without limiting design intent. His work at Legat ranges from the renewal of a college hall facade and pedestrian bridge to the design of fields and facilities for a high school softball complex.
Miguel is an outdoor sports enthusiast. You’ll find him snowboarding all winter and golfing all summer. He’s also part of a running family: they’ve done many 5K – 10K races together.
Miguel holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
