Ryan VenHuizen
Senior Architect
Ryan VenHuizen, AIA, LEED AP BD+C weighs every design detail to ensure clients have a stress-free design and build experience. He applies his appreciation of order and alignment to every project, whether it is a 200-square-foot office renovation or an 80,000-square-foot new building.
Since 2008, Ryan has worked on facility types ranging from corporate offices and municipal buildings to recreation centers and schools. Ryan’s design projects capture user values. For instance, he designed a custom mullion layout to express a police station’s progressiveness and transparency, while its towering limestone facade communicates strength and security.
Clients also appreciate Ryan’s drive to find creative ways to reduce costs without sacrificing quality. He recently helped a building owner avoid a costly flooring demolition by working with manufacturers to pour epoxy flooring over the existing tile.
Ryan, a licensed architect, earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Judson University, where he received a Student of the Year Award from the Association of Licensed Architects – Illinois. Outside the office, he keeps busy with home improvement projects and research. A life-long learner, he enjoys exploring the fields of psychology, spirituality, technology, nature, astronomy, and others. He also likes traveling to experience the diversity of nature and cultures.
