Revived design brings extended stay hotel to coastal community
Legat’s hospitality team designed a new hotel to be built in Portsmouth, a historic New Hampshire coastal community midway between Boston, Massachusetts and Portland, Maine. COVID-19, however, brought the project to a halt.
Five years later, Deer Street Hospitality purchased the hotel parcel and inherited Legat’s previous drawings. The organization challenged the team to transform the initial design into a 116-room extended stay hotel. The new Homewood Suites by Hilton Portsmouth Downtown, seven years in the works, officially opened in summer 2025.
