Jay D. Johnson

Principal | Architect

Since joining Legat in 1993, Jay Johnson, AIA, CSI, LEED AP has managed projects in all the firm’s market segments. As project executive, he led over 50 projects for the redevelopment and expansion at the College of DuPage. These include the award-winning Homeland Security Education Center, the Campus Maintenance Center, the Physical Education Center additions and renovations, and the Homeland Security Training Center.

Jay treats his colleagues the same way he treats his clients: with respect and honesty. In 2014, Legat appointed Jay a principal because of his understanding of the firm’s finances and his many successes as a project manager.

One of Jay’s most rewarding projects was an addition to Symphony at The Tillers, a nursing and rehabilitation center in Oswego, Illinois, where he lives with his family.

Jay holds Master of Architecture and Master of Science in Civil Engineering (emphasis on construction management) degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
