Jeffrey Sronkoski
Principal | Director of Higher Education
Jeffrey Sronkoski, Associate AIA, LEED AP leads Legat’s Higher Education practice in the areas of emerging trends, strategic focus, client advocacy, fiduciary accountability, and master planning. He maintains a hands-on approach to client relationships and fosters a collaborative approach for design solutions that align with institutional purpose.
Jeff is most inspired at each project’s beginning, when all is possible and when ideas begin to translate into architecture. He also encourages our architects to develop as thought leaders in higher education design. This approach has helped the firm achieve expert recognition for advancing several higher education facility types: STEM, health sciences, academic libraries, student centers, and public safety training facilities.
As principal-in-charge of the firm’s Chicago studio, Jeff nurtures a workplace supportive of the creative process, while empowering talented professionals with meaningful work.
Jeff is also a major shareholder and chairman of Legat’s Board of Directors where he advocates for purposeful growth. Since joining the firm in 1978, he has opened three of the firm’s five studios, and has helped the firm grow globally by completing over 40 projects in 30 countries. Examples include master planning and design of a new school in Kuwait, a manufacturing facility in Japan, and an employee amenities facility in South Africa.
Jeff’s commitment to community service includes a tenure as board president of the International Visitors Center of Chicago, a non-profit organization. He has also been active with the Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry, and is currently a board member with the Harper College Educational Foundation.
Jeffrey holds a Master of Architecture degree and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies degree, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
