Michael Lundeen
Principal | Director of Higher Education | Architect
Michael Lundeen, AIA, LEED AP manages higher education projects that energize campuses and expand programs. He focuses on how colleges and universities are perceived on many fronts, from students and faculty to the local community and higher education industry.
Michael, a member of Legat since 1992, has planned and managed over three million square feet in facilities. His portfolio ranges from week-long studies to campus-wide master plans with major building projects that stretch for years.
Michael has managed some of Legat’s largest and most complex projects. He has a strong sense of the business side of architecture and consistently overcomes obstacles to meet tight deadlines and budgets. Administrators and facilities personnel often call on Michael for advice . . . even if there’s no specific project.
Over the past two decades, many architects have grown under Michael’s wing. He’s approachable, and he’s willing to put budding designers in the driver’s seat.
Michael’s passion for building continues outside the office. He has designed and built stairs, masonry work, and Arts and Crafts style furniture. Building with his own hands helps Michael understand the nature of designing and detailing projects in the field.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
