Nick Frey
Associate
During one construction site visit, Nick Frey, Associate AIA discovered that the opening for setting a linear accelerator into a vault was too small. His observation avoided a costly fix—contractors were slated to pour concrete the next morning. This is one of many examples of how Nick, a member of our healthcare team, has resolved challenges before they arise.
Nick’s background in construction estimating brings clarity to contractors. This translates to cost-effective projects that finish on time and deliver what clients expect.
Projects with complex healthcare equipment benefit from Nick’s knowledge of codes, regulations, and electrical/mechanical connections. He has repeatedly met tight schedules, such as designing an imaging suite in three weeks or a nine-room intensive care unit in under eight weeks.
Nick also focuses on improving the patient experience by creating more comfortable, less clinical settings. One of his recent renovation projects creates a special care nursery where soft colors and curving shapes help reduce parent stress.
Nick enjoys spending time with his family, playing and coaching soccer, and tending to an ever-expanding garden. He holds an architectural degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is an associate member of the American Institute of Architects.
