
Tom Kikta
Principal | Building Envelope Director
Tom Kikta, AIA, LEED AP, who joined Legat in 1990, has led wall and roofing system inspections, repairs, and new construction at over 200 facilities. He specializes in identifying and fixing sources of moisture intrusion to make buildings energy-efficient, safe, and healthy.
As a director of Legat’s Chicago studio, Tom guides designers, project managers, and architectural personnel in project delivery. He strives to create an exceptional client experience and to achieve client goals through customized design solutions.
Tom is also adept at managing projects, helping other architects with building envelope components, and observing construction. His skills range from assessing building envelopes to the design of new facilities.
Tom helped create the Architecture Club at Mariano Azuela Elementary School, for which he was the architectural project manager. Since that facility was completed in 2011, Tom has volunteered his time for the after-school design and construction program.
Tom holds Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
