Hamilton Elementary School

Graphics Interiors Learning Master Plans and Pre-Bond Plans PreK-12

Hamilton Elementary School is the first new school in Moline, Illinois in fifty years. Legat Architects’ design, inspired by community planning sessions, emphasizes versatility, interaction, movement, and discovery.

Community-inspired school emphasizes versatility, interaction, and discovery

The 86,000-square-foot Hamilton Elementary School strongly influenced the design of educational facilities in the Quad Cities region of Illinois and Iowa. Its classrooms and interactive learning spaces encourage critical thinking. Bold forms, bright colors, and natural light enliven the facility, and teachers can easily reconfigure furniture for small or large group activities throughout the day.

In the pinwheel-like classroom wing, classrooms surround and display a technology-rich Imaginarium filled with open collaboration spaces. A learning stair equipped with a projector encourages spontaneous interaction and hosts presentations. Transparent sectional doors in classrooms open to the Imaginarium, while sliding doors between classrooms further teacher options.
